THINGS
TO DO:
- Make sure your class is visible to students on Moodle.
- Make sure your syllabus is posted to Moodle.
- Make sure your students have your contact info.
- Contact the students using the Course Announcements forum in Moodle.
- Be prepared to upload assignments and lecture documents to Moodle.
COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR STUDENTS
- Decide on the way you will communicate with students and let them know. Keep it consistent.
- Don’t wait until you have all the details. Keeping your students up-to-date and engaged will help build continuity in your teaching.
Use the Moodle Announcements Forum, which automatically emails your entire course.
SET REALISTIC GOALS
- Is your timeline still realistic? What due dates need to be adjusted?
- What needs to be updated or changed in terms of types of assignments or tools you are using?
- Make sure your learning outcomes are achievable.
- Flexibility is key!
DELIVER YOUR CONTENT
- Think about how you want to deliver your content.
- What will work best for you and your students?
- Options include written lectures, video lectures, discussion groups, the textbook, and links to outside sources.
The best approach is often a mix of content types!
ADAPT ASSIGNMENTS
- What kind of assignments and assessments do you use in-person?
- Which ones of those will have to be adjusted?
- Be flexible with deadlines and attendance.
- Think about what works best for you, your course, and your students
